The heavy rains in the Konkan region caused floods in Chiplun, Khed, Mahad, and the nearby areas. After the floods subsided, there was a lot of aid that came into these cities in the form of food, groceries, and drinking water from different parts of Maharashtra. But the big question was, “Where to store all this received aid?” The floodwaters that got into the houses had brought along mud and dirt. CybageAsha conducted a two-day survey which confirmed that the most urgent need was organizing a cleanliness drive to remove all the filth from the homes and public places in Chiplun city.
CybageAsha was quick to get this done with the help of the Kherdi gram panchayat. The Trust held a cleanliness drive on 31st July and 1st August 2021 in which 40 people participated—5 volunteers and 8 support staff from Cybage along with their friends and relatives.
The gram panchayat arranged staff and tractor trolleys for this cleanliness activity. The volunteers loaded 28 tractor trolleys with garbage and ensured their proper disposal.
