CybageAsha conducted a visit to the Thalassemia center at the Indian Red Cross Society in Ahmedabad on December 14, 2019.  Fourteen volunteers participated in the event where they were also accompanied by a few ex-Cybagians. Ms. Kirtida from the Thalassemia center gave a detailed tour of all the departments and beautifully explained their workings and mechanisms. The Cybage volunteers were shown how the blood pints are separated into different sections as per the requirements and guidelines. The donated blood is then sent to four different centers to carry out the testing procedure. The volunteers also got the opportunity to meet the patients and spend some time with them.

 The Thalassemia center has adopted over a thousand thalassemia patients and gives free treatment to each one of them. This drive was a mentally stimulating experience for all the volunteers as they got to know how the donated blood reaches thousands of people in need.
