With the receding flood waters comes the shock at witnessing the magnitude of the destruction to property and infrastructure. The loss and damage to people, agricultural land, and livestock is alarming and distressing. This was the situation in August 2019, when many parts in Maharashtra and other states of India faced the wrath of incessant heavy rains.
After conducting a quick socioeconomic survey, CybageAsha decided on the construction of 17 houses for the extremely needy families in Gadhinglaj in the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. These houses were built for people with disabilities, the elderly, widows, and those working on daily wages in Hebbal, Hitni, and Dundge villages, who had lost their shelters in the floods. The new 320 sq. ft. houses include a room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a toilet. The handover ceremony of these houses was held on October 5, 2020, where the block development officer Mr. Sharad Magar, builder Mr. Ajaysinh Desai, all the beneficiaries, and the residents from these three villages were present.
CybageAsha has once again succeeded in bringing happiness to those who really deserve it.
